About Joe Fox

The body of my career has been shaped by my love of story telling – whether it’s on film, in print or on the stage.

I am the co-owner of a film/documentary production company – Fly On The Wall Productions.

Over the past several decades my documentaries have aired on PBS, have screened at over 100 film festivals (winning a few awards along the way) and have been distributed on major streaming platforms such as Netflix, Apple and Amazon.

Some of the topics my documentaries have explored are:: the impact of the forced internment of Japanese-Americans during World War II on the generations that followed (“Passing Poston” and “For The Sake Of The Children”), the battle to win same-sex marriage in Maine (“Question One”) and the stories of care givers and patients of the renown Peter Krueger Clinic in New York City – one of the first health care facilities in this country to offer comprehensive medical care to HIV patients (“From Darkness To Light”)

Within the realm of the written word – my roots are in journalism – where for a number of years – I wrote for many leading publications including USA Today – where a three part series I did on South Africa, Israel and Northern Ireland was nominated for that paper’s Pulitzer Prize.

For the stage – I won a major grant by the City of Los Angeles to create a stage presentation about the LA Riots (“And It Never Rains”) – where I interviewed hundreds of Angelinos across the city and presented their stories on stage using real people from the actual impacted neighborhoods.

I’ve also written a play based on my own adoption journey (“Prism View”) which was presented by Dramatists Workshop.
